Union Building Trades Summer Boot Camps Expand

Now in its third year, the South Central Construction Trades Boot Camp continues to give high school students a taste of working in the building trades. The camp’s model spawned a similar camp this summer held at the Local 49 Operating Engineers training facility in Hinckley, Operation Exploration. The members of the various union trades help it come to fruition, providing the instructors and materials for the classes. “Without the building trades, we couldn’t do it,” said Abby Flantz, Regional Career Coordinator at the South Central Workforce Council.
